808’s and ‘Nothing But Trouble’
The video for “Nothing But Trouble,” with Lil Wayne & Charlie Puth has just premiered on Apple Music exclusively as the lead single from the forthcoming soundtrack for 808, the movie.
Lil Wayne & Charlie Puth’s Nothing But Trouble video finally dropped after the track first surfaced at the end of June as one of a series of collaborations from the soundtrack.
Lil Wayne has certified himself as one of the biggest artists in Hip Hop, and now 15 years deep in the game after his first solo album came out in 1999 when he was just 17, he also holds the record for the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a male solo artist with 109 entries, having surpassed the record previously set by Elvis Presley.
Charlie Puth, “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa (Feat. Charlie Puth) also set its own records, becoming one of the decade’s biggest singles, topping Billboard’s “Hot 100” for a stunning 10 weeks and counting. With total worldwide streams now exceeding 76 million, “See You Again” has shattered Spotify records, making history as the most streamed track ever on Spotify in a single day (with 3.18 million global streams on April 8th alone) and in a single week (a stunning 21.9 million worldwide streams).
The track features on the soundtrack to 808, which is the landmark documentary chronicling the incredible story of the influential Roland TR-808 drum machine. The soundtrack companion is being released in conjunction with the film, gathering an array of era-spanning tracks born of and inspired by the 808, including 1982’s world-changing “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force.
