Adwoa Aboah is the Face of Edward Enninful’s #NewVogue
Adowa Aboah is the face of #NewVogue.
As we patiently wait for the new shift in British Vogue to settle in and take shape, Edward Enninful showcased his first cover as Editor-in-Chief on Instagram yesterday. And as expected in our previous article on Enninful’s appointment, he did not fail to deliver his sublime touch.
“What a way to start” – Zendaya
Enninful’s choice of fresh-faced black beauty Adwoa Aboah, speaks volumes. No time was wasted in gutting out British Vogue’s former lack of diversity (no names). The Ghanaian-British model & activist poses for an iconic portrait – in a vibrant silk headwrap and gown, with elaborate pop eye make-up – inspired by the decadence of Vogue in the late 60’s. Of course those days, Vogue was covered by beautiful white women – the likes of Twiggy and others. Things have changed, and this December 2017 cover resonates that.
The face of beauty has now become multi-faceted. “Different women, different body shapes, different classes…” Edward calls it #NewVogue.
We’re expectant of big things with this launch, Enninful teases features from Skepta, 12 years a Slave director Steve Mcqueen, Sadiq Khan, Naomi Campbell, Jordann Dunn, Kate Moss… a diverse assembly of the best of British: no exaggeration.
The magazine goes on sale November 10th. Expect a true, inclusive representation of British culture at its finest.
