AJ Traceys Plays His Position With ‘Quarterback’

This week, AJ Tracey was a guest on Julie Adenuga’s Beats 1 radio show and while speaking on his upcoming project, Secure The Bag!, he dropped an exclusive first official play of new joint ‘Quarterback’.

While the track has already done the rounds on the live circuit, the premiere via Julie’s show marks the second release from the EP. ‘Quarterback’ is produced by New Gen’s Nyge and Keanu Beats, (responsible for producing Migos’ hit ‘What The Price’). The track is a direct reference to NFL legend Tom Brady and the initial idea came from when AJ was watching the Superbowl this year between Atlanta and New England. “I was in a hotel in Glasgow and saw how Tom Brady was calling all the shots. I basically related to him in that sense. I feel like Brady in the music scene!” AJ Tracey told Billboard about the track. “I started writing the hook. I got the beat from my boy Keanu and got my brother Nyge to touch it up. Came out hard as hell — the growling bass is ridiculous!

Secure The Bag! is AJ’s first project since 2016’s debut Lil Tracey EP, which has previously clocked up nearly 20 million plays across Spotify and YouTube alone. With features set from 67, JME, Denzel Curry and Craig David, the new EP will see AJ expand his repertoire and showcase a range of styles. Hot of the back of a successful debut Australia and New Zealand tour, AJ Tracey is set to hit the road in the UK once again in October, with a series 15 UK shows, culminating in his biggest ever headline show at London’s iconic O2 Kentish Town Forum.
