The British music scene is a landscape riddled with an intricate and perplexing state of affairs, yet in amongst all of the sticky politics lies the, jam-packed underbelly of the UK scene, where it’s elbow-to-elbow. To paint a picture think, rush hour on the tube.

Well in amongst all of the congestion, experimental hip-hop duo 808INK have hopped the barrier to hand over their sophomore album ‘Billy’s Home’. Cut from the tenderloins of the slums, this auditory trip you’ll embark on isn’t for the faint hearted. If you’re out expecting a mundane cordial pop infused project then it’d be advised to avert your eyes and ears now.

Young Billy, the main protagonist of this project bears a striking resemblance to a rebellious juvenile. A non-conforming youngster, the type your parents forbid you to play with as a youngster.

Billy’s Home is for the people, a metaphorical masterpiece birthed in the labs of the gully side. Young Billy is painted as a real product of his environment, not a mundane, cordial-pop carbon copy. He encapsulates the backdrop of each character that forms the genetic makeup of this duo; it’s an invitation into their environment and their world.

For me, this here creation is a signature piece for 2015, an adequate representation of the beating heart of the UK scene. A polymerization of intricate production and conceptual concepts, that creates the formulae that fuels the fiery manifesto of this album – one manifesto that we the people need to stand behind.
