Bonkaz Bursts Through In His New Video
While droves of newcomers are discovering Grime for the first time, it’s only courteous that the new generation of UK MC’s acknowledge the lineage of the U.K Grime scene spanning well over 10 years.
Growing up on some of the grimiest MC’s on the scene from Kano to More Fire Crew to Dizzie Rascal and growing up in London’s southern most borough Croydon, Bonkaz has been putting in the work to launch the video for his new single ‘You Don’t Know (Bonkaz)’. Check it out above and spot the cameo’s from some other spitters from the U.K Rap scene.
It’s been quite a year for Bonkaz, breaking through with his record ‘We Run The Block’, swiftly following up with the EP ‘Forgive Me When I’m Famous‘, and now riding off the momentum with his new cut ‘You Don’t Know’. Heading into more familiar territory sampling Dizzee Rascal’s Armand Van Helden-produced U.K number 1 single ‘Bonkers’, Bonkaz is gearing up to go all out and he’s also fast proving his verasatility, switching from grime bangers to nostalgic slow jams to a record that oozes personality with ‘You Don’t Know’.
“This song is both an introduction to me and an example of me having fun with the music,” says Bonkaz. “A well known sample that coincidentally has my name in it, it was a no-brainer for me, especially as I grew up on Dizzee Rascal.”
