Boots Energises With ‘C.U.R.E’
Boot’s isn’t likely to fall into a convenient bracket and considering his resume of production credits, it’s only natural his versatility should be in full force on his debut album.
Boots aka Jordy Asher gained notoriety as Beyonce’s muse, producing almost 80% of her last album, as well as the standout ‘Drunk In Love’. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength, notably working with Run The Jewels and FKA twigs’ on her latest M3LL155X EP. His debut 16 track mixtape ‘WinterSpringSummerFall‘ dropped last year with features from Kelela, Jeremih, and a bonus track from Beyoncé as well.
After his standout feature on the Run The Jewels banger ‘Early’, it was only a matter of time before something solo would surface from Boots. ‘C.U.R.E’ is the latest leak from his forthcoming album and has a Hip-Hop sensibility that filters some of that high-octane Run The Jewels ‘energy’. El-P is also credited as a co-producer on the album ‘AQUARIA’, which hints at the possibility that there could be some more of this style in the mix.
An industrial heavyweight electronic fervour is effervescent in the earlier leaks ‘Bombs Away’ and ‘I Run Roulette’, but this was the C.U.R.E needed to push up the anticipation a notch for the November 13th release of ‘AQUARIA’. It’s always a gamble when producers turn artist and not everyone can translate that success into Yeezus heights, so we’re curious to see if Boots can transcend from the man behind the scenes to the man on the frontline.
