Chronixx delivers the ‘Roots & Chalice’ mixtape

Appearing like sustenance for a conquering lion on the beginning of the journey to a conscious state, ‘Roots and Chalice’ is deliverance for hungry souls.

Chronixx’s mixtape collaboration project with Brooklyn’s sound system Federation Sound comes off the back of a year rich with features for Joey Badass, Inner Circle, Major Lazer, Protoje & Maverick Sabre. Following Chronixx‘s first mixtape ‘Start A Fire’ in collaboration with Walshy Fire (Major Lazer) back in 2012, ‘Roots & Chalice’ is the interlude before the Spanish Towner’s first album promised for Summer 2016.

20 tracks & freestyles are compiled together by Max Glazer & Kenny Meez of Federation Sound delivering a mixtape that features previous tracks revisited over different beats including a standout version of ‘Perfect Tree’ which lights up the brain to a subliminal level over Common’s ‘Respiration’. Other songs haven’t appeared on previous project including 3 original new songs recorded exclusively for the tape with production by the in-house production team of Zincfence Records/Special Delivery Music or over classic instrumentals.

With a spoken interlude Chronixx introduces his own roots into ‘Spanish Town Rockin’, the first new track on the tape; ‘Majesty‘, was recorded for the mixtape over the original version of Otis Gayle’s ‘I’ll Be Around’ with some added guitar from Namdi of Zincfence Redemption; and ‘Sell My Gun’ is produced by Teflon of Zincfence Records.

Roots & Challice

Following on from his Capture Land Jamaica Tour 2015, Chronixx will announce a new World Tour alongside Zincfence Redemption, travelling to Africa and Asia for the first time in 2016.

With music as his mission, Chronixx’s journey is leading him on a path where a new generation are rediscovering roots and culture all while he’s being written into history himself.
