‘Come Closer’ Video Is Wizkid Saying – Africa To The World
Wizkid’s highly anticipated video for ‘Come Closer’ featuring Drake has finally arrived. The 26 years old Nigerian singer / songwriter posted the link to his video on twitter early this morning.
The visuals pay homage to Wizkid’s African (Nigerian) heritage, the personification of beauty presented in Nubian vessels draped in Ankara (African print) tribal face paint and head wraps. Wizkid’s decision to celebrate his African culture follows on from ‘Sweet Love’. Directed by Daps (Migos) the representation of African culture was stunning and uplifting. This is Wizkid saying “Africa to the world” as boldly as possible.
Although the video can similarly be compared to Drakes ‘Hotline Bling’ due to its aesthetics and luminous graphics, the combined style of African and Caribbean choreography at the forefront of crisp white backgrounds and artistic angles bring to life the vibe for the summer.
Officially released last week, ‘Come Closer’ has pushed further Wizkid into mainstream market— with Sony/RCA by his side and already garnering unimaginable number of streams. The summer belongs to Wizkid.
‘Come Closer’ adds to the long rollout before his third studio album ‘Sounds From The Other Side’. Wizkid also announced that he and super producer Diplo have a “summer banger” coming shortly.
