Dane X Jamaal Monarch Come Together On ‘Location’

Without doubt Manchester is the city of the moment, across the board, musicians from the MCR have been finding themselves popping up on various ‘ones to watch’ lists but with so many of the same names being tipped to go clear, it’s easy for some real gems to slip under the radar.

‘Location’ is the latest witty drop from Moss Side’s own Dane. The Manchester native who’s been in love with the music game since he first clapped eyes on Chip’s very first Westwood freestyle. A lover of the wordplay in his game, Dane took the task of grafting on himself sharpening his pen game and honing his brooding style.

Now fresh for 2018, Dane shares his follow up to last year’s ‘Hot Stuff’, this time Dane teams up with Jamaal Monarch. Directed by Quason Matthews, ‘Location’ is definitely right place, right time. Awash in sapphire tones, and peppered with cute blink-and-you-miss-it Dirty Dancing references ‘Location’ has a hook that will say with you for days – a low slung rap ballad all about unrequited love.

My style is dark, a lot of my music feels blue because most of my experiences haven’t been pretty.” Dane says of the new track, “I feel like sonically, blue sounds resonate with people more in terms of pain, pleasure, aspiration. So I try to mix my lyrical ability with that. I was a singer before I rapped, so now i’m really trying to bring melodies back into my game.”
