DJ Target’s Book ‘Grime Kids’ Is Coming 2018
DJ Target announces his new chronicle on the rise of Grime, set for publication in June 2018 via Trapeze. Who better to document the culture, the story of it’s rise, than someone uniquely positioned as one of Grime’s bedrock figures.
I'm Excited to announce that my book 'GRIME KIDS' will be released in June 2018. ???????????

DJ Target is set to lift the lid on UK music’s most prominent contemporary subculture in Grime Kids. From the early days as a kid growing up in Bow under the shadow of Canary Wharf, to introducing two of the scene’s most towering characters to each other – Dizzee Rascal and Wiley, Target has remained integral to the scene since the birth of Grime. He’s seen it all from the underground to the charts with Pay As You Go Cartel and Roll Deep; and throughout its rise to prominence as a genre.
Target’s book Grime Kids will give fans the insight and detail by getting under skin of the genre. “Having been one of the early Grime pioneers and witnessing the growth of the culture first hand, I’m over the moon to be able to bring that story to the masses.” Target said of his book announcement, “This is a book I feel that the world needs, whether an original Grime fan or somebody who is intrigued to know more about the culture. It’s an honour to be working with such an amazing and passionate team in Trapeze/Orion, who share my vision for bringing Grime Kids to a mainstream audience. I can’t wait for the world to read it.”
Trapeze books said “DJ Target was there at the inception of the grime phenomenon and can bring its incredible journey to life like no other. I felt the sheer energy buzzing through his writing and knew this was special – I’ve not read anything that creates such an expansive account of grime while also making the reader feel so close to experiencing those behind-the-scenes pivotal moments. This book will truly get under the skin of grime – culturally, socially, musically and personally – and we are so excited to have such a talent on the Trapeze list.”
