Don’t Miss This Arrival Presenting Tunji Ige’s UK Live Gig
Philly’s Tunji Ige has been etching his own lane, both musically and visually. His seven track project ‘Missed Calls’, exec produced by Noah Breakfast dropped in April, and now he not only shares some equally artistic visuals for ‘War’, but is set to return to UK land on the 19th July for his debut Arrival, hosted by DJ Semtex.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of his Arrival, let’s talk visuals. ‘War’ was one of the mellower tracks on ‘Missed Calls’ and it meshed the lines between hip-hop, house and R&B. Unapologetically hip-hop lyrically, it’s lined with synths and chords of house and R&B. Fast forward three months and the 20 year old Philly artist teams up with music video director Glassface (the creative vision behind Lil Yatchy’s ‘1 Night’) for some Los Angeles filmed visuals, complete with epic drone shots as well as these futuristic distorted shots with burst of bright colour. The elusive Tunji, letting the music (and visual) speak for itself, appears as a silhouette throughout. Overall, the video is reminiscent of a beautiful painting, created by a sea-side painted (random, but it’s got an oceanic vibe to it!). Check out the full video below.
Now for UK fans of Tunji, you won’t have to wait very long before you’ll be able to see him perform live. On Tuesday 19th July 2016, Tunji brings ‘War’ and ‘Missed Calls’ to East London’s Birthday’s for Arrival with DJ Semtex. It’s set to be a night of both lyrical and sonic diversity from the Philly-bred rapper, whose popularity surged last summer with his self described ‘club-trap’ single, ‘Day2Day’. Tickets go on sale Wednesday 8th June from 9am. This is one Arrival you do not want to miss out on.
