Erykah Badu & Nas Collaborate On Skate Film ‘The Land’

Skate Films, of any calibre usually perk our attention, but this particular feature film ‘The Land’ has already caused attention at Sundance Film Festival featuring a staring role with Erykah Badu and getting Nas on hand as as executive producer.

Based around the story of 4 teenagers striving and skating on the streets of Cleveland, Ohio – Cisco, Boobie, Junior, and Patty Cake, dream of making it from the bottom to the top of their game with a little hustle and flow through dealing drugs. Crossing paths with “Turquoise” played by Badu, as the “neighbourhood ‘ho”, they get into a spot of trouble when they come head to head with “Momma”, the drug queen pin, played by Linda Edmond.

Making his directorial feature film debut, Steven Caple Jr.’s assembles a cast of newcomers and contemporary actors in Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Erykah Badu, Machine Gun Kelly, Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy), Ezri Walke, Linda Emond as well as Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) and Moises Aria

Nas first got to know Steve Caple Jr through his short films, “(I’m a) huge fan of my man Steve Caple Jr,”, and soon came on board as an executive producer, “I think he can become the next great filmmaker. (I’m) also, very excited to be working with my former agent and friend Charles King on his first film with his new venture. All great energy around the film, which I believe will yield amazing results.”

Released on Mass Appeal the soundtrack features new tracks from Kanye West, Pusha T, Jeremih, French Montana, Nas, as well as original tracks written to the score from Erykah Badu and Machine Gun Kelly.  Check out the trailer above.
