Jerome Thomas X Warren XcInce – Didn’t Know / 1989
New Soul saviour Jerome Thomas teams up with DJ and Producer Warren XcInce on a new double single release. Boasting ‘Didn’t Know’ on the A side and ‘1989’ as a B side.
Cross pollinating their sounds, Jerome Thomas and Warren XcInce have worked on a combined style that is not only authentic to each of them but contemporary all the while. Lifting elements from R’n’B, Electro and Nu Jazz for both single releases, ‘Didn’t Know’ features Xclnce’s ‘swing’ percussion, assimilated with Thomas’s classic deep Soul delivery, with effortless keys contributed by Ezra Collective’s Joe Armon-Jones; while ‘1989’ plays as part dreamscape with echoes of Ifan Dafydd’s 2011 future garage classic ‘No Good’
Migos – MotorSport feat Nicki Minaj & Cardi B
Squashing rumours of a beef by uniting Cardi and Nicki on one record, Migos are keeping it flashy with the rims and hoods for their first video from their forthcoming new album ‘Culture II’. For ‘Motorsport’, each artist gets into motocross gear, surrounded by expensive cars, for the futuristic high octane visual. Already racking up over a milli views, the video makes a brief diversion from their latest teaser from the Quality Control mixtape ‘Control The Streets Vol.1’, that sparked all types of reactions to Quavo’s “lyrical venom” directed at Joe Budden.
Team Salut – Wagon feat Naira Marley
With Chip officially feeling the wave, Team Salut pick up pace with their 2nd single ‘Wagon’. Premiered on GRM Daily, their new video features the trio with Naira pulling up in their G Wagon for a lyrically saucy night out. The Kirx-directed cut features the team on a rooftop, setting the mood for a late-night ride and some strong “pull-up game”.
169 – Gone
As a producer, 169 has some heavyweight credits already stacked in his favour. He’s worked with Dave, creating his breakout ‘Six Paths’ EP as well as adding his finesse to Stormzy’s ‘Bad Boys’ with J Hus and Ghetts. 169 even found time sprinkle magic on Craig David’s upcoming ‘The Time Is Now’ LP, now stepping out on his own with new single ‘Gone’, 169 is ready to take his place in the world of contemporary British R’n’B.
“We all go through a lot of experiences and changes in our lives, but it’s about how you react to them, and remain the same through it all,” 169 comments on his new track a slick mix of synths sweet flows over a paired back beat. The visual, directed by Terry Paul shows off the two sides of this emerging artist; with Paul going on to say, “The video captures the overall sonics of the song: dark, nocturnal and moody. The video features 169’s closest friends, the same people he has had around since day one. It reveals both the warm and colder side of 169 and how he remains humble and authentic throughout the changes he has gone through.”
