FKA Twigs Divines On The Mobo Stage

Last night the Mobo Awards celebrated it’s 20th anniversary at the Leeds Arena broadcasting live on ITV2 and showcasing the highlights of a year for music of black origin.

The 2 big winners of the night taking 2 awards a piece were Stormy and Krept and Konan, although undoubtedly a particularly humbling achievement for both Stormzy and best newcomers Section Boyz who are still independent artists and not signed to a major label – yet.

Giving the standout performance of the night was FKA Twigs, who came out with 2 back to back tracks from her ‘M3LL155X EP. With 3 nominations to her name, this year at the Mobo’s FKA Twigs had centre stage with ‘Figure 8’ and ‘In Time’ choreographed and pitched to perfection. Having previously performed as a back-up dancer on the MOBO’s stage, the significance of making her own solo breakout at the awards wasn’t lost on FKA, as she accepted the award for Best Video with ‘Pendulum’.
