Gimme Some Of What JMSN’s Been ‘Drinkin’

JMSN (pronounced Jameson) wears many hats in the studio: singer, producer, engineer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist… Pretty much every hat there is to wear, as far as the production of music is concerned, really.

It comes as no surprise, then, that his diverse skill-set is frequently tapped by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, J. Cole, Tyga, Ab-Soul and Kaytranada. Yep, that’s right – JMSN’s musical blueprint has blessed the mixes of many of your favourite artists, often in a variety of ways.

Serving as a follow-up to last year’s ‘It Is’, JMSN announced the release of his fifth studio album, ‘Whatever Makes U Happy’, via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. In addition to this, he released the album’s first single: ‘Drinkin’.

‘Drinkin’ is a smoky neo-blues number, written, arranged and sang all by JMSN himself. The track features a perpetual, bluesy guitar loop, slow plodding drums and probably some of the the sexiest bass guitar riffs that you will hear anywhere. On top of this, we find JMSN performing a pretty staggering feat of vocal acrobatics – somehow finding about thirty different ways to croon, ‘I’ve been drinking / Drinking all the time’. Trust me – it’s impressive.
