IAMDDB Shines on ‘Hoodrich Vol. 3’ 

This year has seen the UK scene thrive with the experimentation of genres and sounds, pushing artists to new levels and making for some amazing and ground-breaking projects. One artist who has consistently looked to develop her style and push boundaries is Manchester’s own IAMDDB.

Releasing ‘Hoodrich Vol. 3’ in the past week, her third instalment in the series, IAMDDB has brought together seven tracks which combine emotion and sounds to create a thought provoking final project.

Kicking off with a ghostly intro, the projects opener, ‘Conjuring’ is a trap banger with IAMDDB making her intentions very clear. The idea of making a name for herself is something that is continued across the tape, especially with tracks ‘G.A.F’ and ‘Ooo’. She certainly steps up to the plate and serves some serious wordplay combined with intense delivery.

Elements of jazz and neo-soul add an extra layer to ‘Hoodrich Vol. 3’ and contribute to those slower moments of the disc, allowing time for reflection with IAMDDB. This is reflected the best on the final two tracks, ‘Trophy’ and ‘More’ which blends trippy beats and sonic sounds to create a lyrical mood board. A stand out track ‘Shade’, which was previously released alongside some stunning visuals showcases IAMDDB in her prime and her element, not afraid to show herself off.

With this release, she has built on what has come before and obviously grown in confidence and talent as time has gone on. A self-aware set to say the least, it is clear that every detail has been considered and it’s shown in her overall output. Her versatility and creativity is highlighted, even within a relatively small project, and ‘Hoodrich Vol.3’ certainly creates anticipation on what is to come next for the young star.
