It’s Official Dr Dre’s ‘Compton’ Is The No.1 Album In The U.K

Dr Dre has officially grabbed the No.1 spot on this week’s Official Albums Chart in the U.K with his first album in 16 years, ‘Compton’.

Selling over 45,000 units of the album ‘Compton’, Dr Dre was the front-runner by 27,000 more sales then the no.2 album. The album, features collaborations with  Kendrick Lamar, Xzibit, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Eminem plus up and comers Jon Connor, King Mez and Anderson .Paak. The album has significantly outperformed the other albums in the top 5 and is a phenomenal result considering it is only digitally released on iTunes.

Dre’s last album release in 1999’s ‘Chronic 2001’ peaked at Number 4 in the U.K, while his debut album ‘The Chronic’s’ released in 1992 only managed to reach a UK chart position of Number 43.

Times have certainly changed over the last 30 years and Hip-Hop is now a global force capturing the hearts and minds of a nation of billions. The internet has been enraptured since the album came out with people all out declaring their stand out tracks with ‘Deep Water’ having triggered its own hashtag for the first few days of release. ‘Animals’ has also become a poignant reminder of the situation facing many black people across America right now, Xzibit posted this Instagram post earlier today.
