Janelle Monáe Just Started a MF Pussy Riot

If you need this to be spelled out for you – Janelle Monáe embodies every woman and ahead of her 3rd album she’s letting the vagina have a monologue.

Sassy, classy, celebrated and graduated since her last album ‘The Electric Lady’ five years ago, Monáe landed standout roles in the Oscar winning critically acclaimed film ‘Moonlight’ and Oscar nominated ‘Hidden Figures’.

Announcing her highly-anticipated third solo album project, ‘Dirty Computer’; the “Emotion Picture”, Janelle dropped two videos back to back, and unleashed a Twitter tidal wave on the timeline.

Channeling the spirit of her mentor Prince, Monáe oozes pure funk with guitar licks and 80’s dance moves on the first single “Make Me Feel”. Directed by Alan Ferguson, the video is an electrifying sexually powered celebration of free expression with some killer choreography.

But don’t be mistaken, it’s not just about feeling good, it’s about feeling the power. In the 2nd single “Django Jane” Monáe unleashes a fierce flow with a lyrical attack on anyone questioning the beauty, complexity and magic of black women and black culture. The video directed by Andrew Donoho and Chuck Lightning, with additional vagina monologue footage directed by Lacey Duke, is a womanifesto addressing these challenging times of ours.

The album is available for pre-order from today and drops on April 27th with an accompanying film.
