Jelani Blackman Is Back With ‘Not You’

Over the last three years Jelani Blackman is a name that has continued to gather pace, peppering his ascent to prominence with features and collaborations, his time is surely coming. From last year’s Electro flecked collaboration with producer / DJ Jarreau Vandal on the track ‘Rabbithole‘ to his verse on the stark melody of ‘City Lies‘ by POSTAAL, Blackman is an artist that is adept at showing off range.

His first EP entitled simply ‘1-4’ turned heads, most notably his track ‘Twenty//Three’ which has clocked well over two million plays on Spotify. Now Blackman is back with his latest project ‘5-8’ EP and his newest offering, a nocturnal love song entitled ‘Not You’ sees Blackman slow the pace and luxuriate in that sumptuous lower range vocal that makes him such a stand out.

With the EP due for release later this year Blackman has already teamed up with Travis Brothers on art direction. Noted for his aesthetic prowess, Travis Brothers has Pusha T, Post Malone and Sam Gellaitry as credits in his armoury, he has also contributed to Kanye West’s creative content agency DONDA.

As the EP release date approaches Blackman will be releasing one track each month that will form the ‘5-8’ EP. Catch the elements of ‘Not You’ featuring production from Kwesi Darko, Staf & FRED;
