Kamasi Washington Announces New ‘Heaven & Earth’ LP

“The reality we experience is a mere creation of our consciousness, but our consciousness creates this reality based on those very same experiences.”

Today, Kamasi Washington shares two tracks from his upcoming double album, ‘Heaven & Earth‘ (available for pre-order from today). The follow up to his 2015 debut ‘The Epic’, ‘Heaven & Earth’ as a concept is solely concerned with the idea of ‘reality’. At a time when augmented reality is a part of everyday life, whether in the shape of 4K gaming experiences or social media highlights ‘Heaven & Earth’ is the perfect opportunity to journey with Kamasi, “We are simultaneously the creators of our personal universe and creations of our personal universe.” he says, delving into the philosophy that drove the new LP’s creation.

In preparation for its June 22nd release, both ‘Fists of Fury‘ taken from ‘Earth’ and ‘The Space Traveller’s Lullaby‘ found on ‘Heaven’ are available for streaming now and can be absorbed through a pair of accompanying scenes created by acclaimed British artist and director Jenn Nkiru. Reckoning with Earth’s seemingly global chaos whilst continuing to strive for spiritual peace, Kamasi Washington once more shares his soul food compositions that often go beyond music. “The Earth side of this album represents the world as I see it outwardly, the world that I am a part of. The Heaven side of this album represents the world as I see it inwardly, the world that is a part of me. Who I am and the choices I make lie somewhere in between.”
