Kaytranada Seeks Out The One in the Syd Featured ‘You’re the One’ Video
Hot off of his 2016 Polaris Music Prize win in Canada, the equivalent of a Mercury Music Prize in the UK, Kaytranada has set the internet wild with snapchats of himself with Andre 3000 in the studio and Chance the Rapper dropping news that a new collaboration is about to drop.
Well sorry guys, apparently neither is imminent, but we’re not left bereft, as Kaytranada dropped us a new visual as the latest instalment from his ‘99.9%’ album in the shape of the new video for ‘You’re the One’.
The Syd featured track receives a throwback treatment from director Shomi Patwary who took some inspiration from those classic tv shows from KAYTRANADA‘s childhood, “Stylistically it was influenced by the look of black sitcoms from the early 90s — from Martin to Living Single and UPN sitcoms. The African prince idea derived from the plot of Coming To America.”
