Kaytranada Takes Us On A ‘Bus Ride’
It’s been quite a week at SXSW, not unexpected as its set up as a benchmark week for music breakouts and Kaytranada made quite the impression this week, wrapping it up with the premiere of a brand new track from his forthcoming album ‘99.9%’ due out in May.
The Haitian born, Montreal raised producer is finally following up with a complete body of work to follow on from a slew of self-released EPs and remixes, which have taken the DJ turned producer to the world stage with a relentless output. Introduced to production by his brother, KAYTRANADA tells about the infectious urge to make music “after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn’t stop making beats.”
Speaking to Benji B on a special show from Montreal last night on BBC Radio 1, Kaytranada talked briefly about the forthcoming album, speaking about the title and it’s reference to his tendency to be indecisive and a perfectionist who’s never 100% satisfied. Working with Bad Bad Not Good on 15 joints, Kaytranada revealed that 2 joints from those sessions have made the album as well as joints featuring Syd, Anderson .Paak and Vic Mensa.
Premiering the new track ‘BUS RIDE‘ a collaborative instrumental track with acclaimed percussionist/producer Karriem Riggins and rising Toronto vocalist River Tiber, KAYTRANADA is leading the league of future forward producers to become an artist in his own right.
KAYTRANADA will be appearing live in London on the 13th of May, at Troxy with ‘99.9%’ due for release on XL Recordings on May 6th, 2016, see the track listing below;
