Killer Mike Pens The Intro for Marvel’s Hip-Hop Covers

In 2015, Marvel paid tribute to Hip-Hop and it’s connection to comics by revealing 50 cover variants, each one reworked and inspired by some of the most iconic hip-hop albums of all time.

The project featuring reworked cover art of albums from the last 40 years of Hip-Hop including Drake, Jay Z, LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, Eminem, Mobb Deep and of course the first reveal of Run The Jewels reworked with Howard the Duck and Deadpool.

Marvel have now released The Hip-Hop Covers Pt.1, as a free 32-page comic containing 14 of the hip hop variant covers. To celebrate the release, Killer Mike penned the introduction below – “The age of Internet lists has show us how difficult it is to please everyone, but Marvel managers to represent Hip-Hpo in every one of its various incarnations since its glorious inception. This was no small feat. This was clearly done with love and the type of responsibility we could only hope more people take cue from when representing such an influential art form in my life. Not to mention they look cool as $#!!
