Kobi Onyame Sheds Ego In New ‘Wedadi’ Visual
Taken from year’s ‘Gold’ album, Glaswegian raised Kobi Onyame returns a brand new video and directorial debut in the shape of ‘Wedadi’. Meditating on the concept of killing off ego in order to better live for others, the video sees Kobi take on the role of mourning guest at a funeral reception. Toying with the idea of a beautiful death Kobi explores what killing off our selfishness would look like, across the album Kobi blends Hip-Hop with rhythmic Afro traditions and ‘Wedadi’ sees him questioning art, fame and ego head on.
Starting 2018 in serious fashion, Kobi premiered in the recently ended Many Studios collaboration – ‘Kobi Onyame vs The Artist‘ exhibition in which six artists from various creative disciplines and countries responded to tracks from his album. Coming up is a string of festival appearances; perfect opportunities to catch that boisterous brass section in the flesh.
