Last Friday, we headed over for day 1 of LoveBox Festival in Victoria Park, East London to check out headliners Major Lazer, Run The Jewels and Katy B alongside UK MC’s Giggs, Kano, Stormzy and Big Narstie. All in all another packed schedule had us racing between tents & stages.
Some highlights included; Reggae don gargan, David Rodigan who warmed things up for Giggs on the Noisey Stage playing a mix of lovers rock, dancehall and drum n bass with dub plates galore. Love was certainly in the air when he ended his set with some Bob Marley which had the whole crowd singing along in unison.
Giggs certainly repped for London, tearing down the Noisey stage alongside pals such as Scrapps and Lethal B. Bangers such as ‘Talkin The Hardest’ and ‘Look What The Cat Dragged In’ gained the largest reactions from the London crowd.
The late-night Dalston institution Visions also had their own tent with DJs such as Darq E Freakr, Snips, Star One and CWD on hand to deliver the latest in trap, grime and underground heaters. Fredos ‘One Hunna’ and Skepta’s ‘Man’ whipped the crowd into a mosh pit frenzy, Grime vets Nu Brand were on hosting duty, dabbing on stage along to Desiigner and Young Thug.
After stuffing our faces with some Patty N Bun we were lucky enough to catch the legendary Goldie playing a special old school hip hop set. The vibrant sounds of Pharcyde and Lauryn Hill were the perfect accompaniment to the sun setting over Victoria Park.
