M.I.A Cuts ‘Borders’ With We’dom

M.I.A. today revealed the visual for the next part of her new multi-media/multi-format project taking the concept of ‘Borders’ beyond its boundaries and into her new video.

Directed and edited by M.I.A over two months in the summer ‘Borders’, the video premiered exclusively on Apple Music today and is featured on M.I.A.’s forthcoming fifth studio album ‘Matahdatah’, released on Interscope Records.

As evident in the lyrics as with the visuals, M.I.A takes the refugee crisis head on and while the politics of warmongers threaten to create a bigger problem of a magnitude that cannot even be imagined yet, when they ask for the bombs to start falling – “Fuck em when we say we’re not with them“.

‘Borders’ follows the release of ‘Matahdatah Scroll 01 “Broader Than A Border‘ in July and both are leading up to what is being coined as a ‘characteristically DIY M.I.A.project’.  The two pieces will ultimately come together in a larger body of work that explores the concept of ‘Borders,’ an element of which will be a full-length album and film experience entitled Matahdatah.

“Borders” is available for purchase now at iTunes.com/M.I.A.
