Next Up: Watch Them Rise in 2016
Virtually unknown before 2015, a bunch of upstarts caught our attention and in 2016 they’ll be catching yours. In the space of less than 12 months these artists have dropped tracks, E.P’s and freestyles, coming at us full force and steaming ahead of the pack.
Back in 2014, British newcomers like Stormzy, FKA Twigs, Section Boyz, Shakka together with a rising crop of artists from across the channel Tory Lanez, Travis Scott, Fetty Wap, Phony PPL and Kehlani – proved they had major staying power in 2015. Cutting through the gatekeepers these artists made big strides in 2015 certifying themselves for bigger things and in 2016 we’ll continue to feature their ‘Rise and Rise’.
We’ve talked and talked and talked and thought and thought about all the music we’ve loved, liked and rarely loathed this year. 2015 stands strongly as a contender for a future vintage year for music and we’ll be looking back at this year again and again. We got charged up, turned up and got through it back to back – but to put it all in a list well it just feels like more click-bait. And right now – we need you to shift your attention to whats coming next.
This week we’ll be featuring a league of artists who surfaced in 2015 and are ‘Next Up in 2016’. To put them all in a list with 30 second soundbites, well it just doesn’t seem fair – so we’re going to give you a look at each of them and show you why you might just want to watch them rise in 2016.
‘Next up in 2016’ isn’t a list, its a league of Nation.
