Ray BLK & Stormzy Invite Us To ‘My Hood’
There’s no place like Souf London and Ray BLK’s new single ‘My Hood’ touches movingly on the quirks of living in the heart and soul of this, oh so homely but damn so hard, type of place.
Ray BLK has a way about weaving her words into a sublimely soulful song that plays a perfect pitch to living life up in ‘My Hood’ where concrete flowers grow on these streets of South London. ’This track is an ode to where I’m from, It’s a bittersweet song about home. South East is one of the roughest places in London but it rears the strongest people because of that and that’s what makes us special.’
Teaming up with South London’s other heart, Stormzy, his smooth verse puts into perspective those bare ‘what gwans’ when you grow up in the hood. With ‘My Hood’ we’ve just got another reason to be certain that Ray BLK is next up and on the rise. It’s probably why ‘Everybody Loves Ray’, and why it’s the apt title for her debut project. Ray’s been giving us that around the way girl type of feeling since her official debut look on ’50/50′, which had her rolling around the hood with those galdem like the boss she is.
Take a listen, and head over to ‘My Hood’ – there’s no place like home.
