Rihanna & Drake ‘Work’ Up A Double Hitter At No.1
Rihanna dun did it again, but don’t be deceived it took ‘Work’ to become the 3rd artist ever to score 14 Billboard No.1’s, taking her past Michael Jackson.
After a bout in 2015, where no.1 records just seemed to evade Rihanna with ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ (15), ‘American Oxygen’ (78) and ‘FourFiveSeconds’ (4), Rihanna won’t have much more ‘Work’ to do to get any higher in that chart, scoring her 2nd No.1 single with Drake.
Premiering the new ‘two in one’ video today, the visuals for ‘Work’ have already set off another round of meme frenzy and hysteria around her sheer and sultry moves.
As for chart reigns, according to the latest Billboard chart update, ‘Work’ has pushed Rihanna further up amongst the historic league of greats;
20 – The Beatles
18 – Mariah Carey
14 – Rihanna
13 – Michael Jackson
12 – Madonna
Although Rihanna’s got a bit of catching up to do to move up to the next spot and give Mariah some sweat, given that she’s only celebrated her 28th birthday, she’s still got plenty time on her side and alot of players like Roc Nation, Tidal, Samsung and Puma all banking on her as a major win win.
Rihanna and Drake continue the current reign of non-US artists at the top spot of the Billboard 100 with the 9th record taking the straight run to 33 weeks – that over 7 months and counting.
