Run The Jewels Drop A VR Video for ‘Crown’
Damn these guys are so dope! Just pushing up the levels somewhere else entirely and right now they’ve taken us into the future of virtual reality with their new video for ‘Crown’.
If we needed any more heat to turn up the anticipation for the third album ‘RTJ3’ then here you have it – if you’re all geeked up about new tech, then you need to go download the NYT VR app for either iOS or Android, to watch the Run The Jewels video in full effect.
Now if you haven’t hooked yourself up with a VR headset then no stress, its viewable on your mobile too and puts you at the centre of the story as you’re surrounded by El-P, Killer Mike and other characters featured in the track. Peter Martin, the Oscar nominated director adds Run The Jewels to his stack of previous collabs including Alexander McQueen, Jamie Hewlett, M.I.A. & Janelle Monae. Produced by VR pioneers Wevr, if you’re not down to go all VR yet, then you can hang tight for the 360-degree version of the video which will hit Facebook and YouTube’s 360 platforms next month.
If that isn’t enough then get ahead of Record Store Day, because Run The Jewels will also be releasing some super dope customised VRTJ cardboard viewers in conjunction with Mass Appeal Records.
As the U.S primaries continue, US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is quickly gaining ground and could just take Wall Street on a run for their money, with Killer Mike actively supporting the campaign this is shaping up to be one run for the jewels.
