Run The Jewels Power On With ‘Angel Duster’
Badass Hip-Hop duo, Run The Jewels have dropped the visuals for their single ‘Angel Duster’, to celebrate the one-year-anniversary of their critically acclaimed album ‘Run The Jewels 2’.
Directed and edited by Ryosuke Tanzawa, the video compresses footage from El-P and Killer Mike’s impressive run on the road, including sets from Pitchfork Festival, Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful, BBC, Red Bull, Rock en Seine and Music Midtown.
Back in September, the duo stopped by to perform at Banksy’s Dismaland, “Bemusement Park” in Weston-super-Mare, notably, the unorthodox artist had also interviewed them about Ferguson, Kanye West, theme parks and more for The Guardian.
Another highlight of their tour was opening for Jack White in Madison Square Garden, bringing out Rage Against the Machine’s Zach de la Rocha for their boisterous hit ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)’.
Earlier this month, the boys re-worked ‘RTJ2’ into a crowdfunded Kickstarter LP, ‘Meow The Jewels’, utilizing bizarre cat samples within the music to display a synth-like effect. “This demented little experiment in philanthropy/cat noise”, was all in the name of charity, raising around $65,000 with proceeds donated to the families of the victims of police brutality, Michael Brown and Eric Garner and the National Lawyers Guild’s Mass Defense Committee.
As for future projects RTJ plan to work on their third album, ‘RTJ3’, after their tour in 2016. Talking to DIY magazine, El-P stated: “As soon as I get home, we start Run the Jewels 3. We’ve already started some of the production. That’s what we’re doing all next year until it’s done.”
