Stevie Wonder Brings ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’ To The UK

Summertime in London will be high with the ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’ when Stevie Wonder brings the performance of one of the greats records ever made to the UK stage for the first time at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on 10th July, 2016.

On July 10th, Stevie Wonder will perform his masterpiece album ‘Songs In The Key of Life’ as a complete body of work for an epic live show from one of the most prolific artists of all time. Already taken on tour in the U.S ‘Songs In The Key of Life’ has run for 18 months and been extended due to phenomenal public demand. The first UK performance will celebrate the album’s 40th Anniversary year, which was originally released in 1976 on the legendary label Motown Records. Featuring the classic’s ‘Sir Duke’, ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ and ‘I Wish’, it is cited as an influence on many of the world’s biggest stars, Elton John, Prince, Michael Jackson and Pharrell to name a few.

Spending 2 years on ‘Songs’, and producing a double album of enthralling music, Stevie Wonder cemented his position as a musical genius and was awarded the Album Of The Year at the 1977 Grammy’s. Stevie’s album is a key to a true work of art, following a trilogy of albums that took Wonder from a teenage Motown prodigy to a bonafide artist – ‘Talking Book’, ‘Innervisions’ and ‘Fullfillingness’ First Finale – were all released in the first 4 years of the 1970s. Together, the albums made the 25-time GRAMMY winner the only artist to have ever received Album Of The Year awards in three out of four consecutive years.

For fans and artists today, Stevie’s legacy is unrivalled for its quality and depth, and for artists building their own legacy like Kanye –  “I’m not trying to compete with what’s out there now. I’m really trying to compete with Innervisions and Songs In The Key of Life. It sounds musically blasphemous to say something like that, but why not set that as your bar?”

Stevie Wonder joins a lineup that already includes Kendrick Lamar and Jamie XX amongst our hot favourite Kamasi Washington.
