Stormzy Takes SXSW
What a time to be British, 2016 at SXSW has already kicked off as a major year for the Brits at the annual Austin music industry fest.
As the delegates descend en masse to the Texan outpost of Austin, the U.K has set up shop, kicking off with SBTV’s first official SXSW showcase ‘Strictly British’, with a lineup of performances from Shakka, Stormzy, MC Ghetts, Jay Prince, Mumdance and more, representing our home turf in a big way.
Ghetts joined a slew of Grime MCs heading to SXSW, “As one of the pioneers of Grime, it is especially important to me to ensure that Grime, and the UK, are always represented at International Music Festivals like I’m doing today at SXSW, alongside SBTV.”
British music is undoubtedly scoring points as the hottest music export on the circuit, Stormzy has a packed schedule kicking off with last nights performance at the Main Event II venue for SBTV, and appearing tonight at BBC Introducing night at Stubbs, Friday night at The Pitchfork Party at Barracuda, and at Hype Hotel, joining the line up that includes Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, SBTRKT, D.R.A.M and more.
Hosting the SBTV showcase at SXSW, Jamal Edwards the founder and our own pick for ‘30 More Under 30‘ , regards “2016 is the UK’s year at SXSW and its fitting that SBTV is the music platform to represent British talent this year.”
