Tinie Tempah’s ‘What We Wear’ Shoots It’s Shot at LFWM

What We Wear’s “Hat-Trick” show perfectly brought London Fashion Week Men’s to full-time with a screamer. The third time definitely is a charm, as Tinie Tempah sealed his designer credentials this year with this Spring/Summer 2019 show.

Tinie paid his dues by staying true to the WWW name and ethos: the best of our culture were scouted to witness and approve. Enough tastemakers to make you look to your right and think…“swear down that’s Giggs over there…next to the Made in Chelsea guy”. It was most definitely a reminder that Tinie really is in the fields when it comes to this fashion thing and he still has his fingers on the music pulse. None of the weird techno fashion music played. Instead, tunes from Tinie Tempah himself and producer maverick Nana Rogues.

The styles took inspiration from the best of 70-90s England “football hooliganism” from jerseys with matching shorts, to blue/red contrast stripes and football socks. The designs were laden with sick panelling & pockets, trousers with clean-cut tailoring, pinstripes, trench coats with extravagant colours and texturing. Who knew patent leather could be so drip…

Keeping with the buzz of World Cup 18’, the designs paid homage to the global love of football & the common goal of winning. Even more, we all want to see each other win. Yesterday’s atmosphere embodied that. Cheers rose from the front row when rising model newcomers like Shamel Kendrick bopped down the runway.

By teaming up with innovative brands from the Netherlands – Daily paper and Filing Pieces – the show put on a United Front, from new footwear to bespoke embroidered pouches.

Yesterday’s one-year anniversary of What We Wear, was also an anniversary of a change at LFWM. More black guys and girls were in attendance than ever, and a prevalence of luxury streetwear last week was undeniable. Well played.
