We Got 5 On It For Friday: IAMDDB, Col3trane & More

From IAMDDB, Louis Mattrs, Col3trane, Kara Marni and Ritual, we’ve got the five cuts on it for Friday.

It’s Friday, and as clockwork we’re flooded with a furious flow of new music, so we’ve sifted through the latest releases and pulled together some cuts that deserve a little attention for the weekend. These five cuts are on it, they’re all British and they’re all set to blow!

Col3trane’s trippy cut ‘Penelope’ sees the 18-year-old warming the waters with his new visual shot and directed by Prince’s long-term photographer Nicole Nodland. The North London singer/songwriter and musician, of American and Egyptian heritage, draws a mosaic of influences into his sound, Col3trane aka Cole Basta, has been involved in the Birmingham R&B and hip-hop collectives since his early teens, dropped vocals on SG Lewis’ ‘Smark Aleck Kill’ and is getting ready to drop his mixtape soon.

Ready to set off new waves, Louis Mattrs has dropped his ‘Killer’ new single today. Igniting the forthcoming release of his debut album ‘On The Rocks’, Louis’ 12 track project is due later this year. The Brighton based producer, singer/songwriter is already catching waves across the channel from Meek Mill, G-Eazy and P Diddy and is undoubtedly on killer form for his next project.

Manchester’s own IAMDDB releases latest visual for ‘More’, lifted from her new ‘Hoodrich Vol. 3’ EP comes the intimate and deeply introspective single ‘More’.

The closing ballad on the seven track EP, ‘More’ sees IAMDDB bask in the Blues tones her vocal so easily summons. Styled by clothing designer Meme Gold and directed by KC Locke, IAMDDB brings together Soul tones and R’n’B melodies in a marriage of audio and visual that will have you deep in your feelings.

It’s only right that Kara Marni followed up her ‘Golden’ debut single with a truly retro-fit visual that shines a light on this bright new artist. Fresh with the sentiment of that newly in love type of feeling, the video brings to life a song that really will make you glow.

Earlier this week, London based quartet RITUAL dropped their collaboration with 6LACK, on the remix of their single ‘Drown The Lovers’. Naturally drawn to each other’s music, 6LACK explains why working with RITUAL made the cut, “I was doing my soundcloud surfing for new songs to fall in love with and I stumbled on a rework of one of my own songs “Loyal” by RITUAL, and instantly became a fan. They made it their own and from there I just dove into everything of theirs I could find. I think I reached out on social media, and by the time “Drown the Lovers” was presented to me, I already knew all the lyrics and was honored to be apart of it. It’s written perfectly, and was reflective of a lot of my relationships so the words just kind of came to me. Sometimes you find yourself in situations where people need a little help up before they can love the right way, the trick is figuring out if it’s your place, or if it’s something they have to tackle on their own.”

Today, RITUAL released their new project ‘No Escape Out Of Time’, accompanied by a short film from Jackson Ducasse, “The film and the songs on the project as a whole explore the ideas of the lifespan of a relationship , something that can start so pure and beautiful but can end so bitterly.” Listen to the full project on Spotify HERE.
