Will You ‘Fall In Love’ With This GoldLink, Kaytranada & BadBadNotGood Collab

I’m not sure we can say with any certainty who GoldLink actually is any more than we could when he debuted the ‘God Complex’ mixtape. Infact if there’s an artist who keeps testing the waters not just musically but emotionally it’s GoldLink, but is he still floating somewhere between rap and dance?

Since his last full length ‘And After That, We Didn’t Talk,’ GoldLink appears much more ready to do alot more talking than rapping. If there were any repressed feelings then, they no longer linger, “To love and keep quiet was the greatest punishment I brought on myself.”  ‘Fall In Love’ seems to fulfil that urge to share more openly and while a collaboration with Kaytranada and BADBADNOTGOOD in theory sounds like a perfect trinity of sound, it’s a groove that may stir the soul but doesn’t quite ignite our passions. It’s an easy on the ear upbeat record which enlists Ciscero to bring a verse on it while GoldLink dominates the vocal groove.

Singing about a good thing gone bad isn’t unrelatable it’s maybe too easily relatable to another LA groove master – Anderson .Paak. If you’re not averse to something summery and not looking for GoldLink to break new ground, then resist the urge to break this down too hard.

We’ve come to expect something a little more unconventional from GoldLink and while what we’re likely to expect from GoldLink next is hard to tell, till then you can catch GoldLink on his upcoming Tour Dates in the UK;
