Wu Tang Is For The Children
With 20 years on the clock, certified G.O.A.T’s and icons of the culture, if you’ve been raised on Hip-Hop then you know ‘Wu Tang is for the children’.
Method Man brings it to us once again in ‘The Purple Tape‘ video featuring his son, Rae Butta and just so you know he’s “no relation to Chef” but the real Chef Raekwon comes through with Inspectah Deck. Watching the next generation of the Wu on tape, brings back Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s declaration at his Grammy Speech in ’98 – “Cause I figured that Wu-Tang was gonna win. I don’t know how you all see it, but when it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children. We teach the children. You know what I mean?”
‘The Purple Tape’ is featured on ‘The Meth Lab’, the fifth and first album from Method Man in 9 years and the video comes in time to coincide with Raekwon’s ‘Purple Tape’ arrival which marks the point of the 20-year anniversary of Raekwon’s solo debut.
Things have come a long way from the days on the come up from Staten Island, so it’s only right that Meth’s imparts some True Wu wisdom to the new guard, “Young buck I’m just trying to toughen you up, Can’t let you hustle with us, ya ain’t struggled enough, Y’all been cuddled too much, maybe mothered too much“
