You Should Be Here, When Kehlani Hits London
Is Kehlani R&B’s only future hope? That’s quite a major statement but Kehlani’s exceptional breakout amongst a handful of new R&B entrants, has made her possibly the only breakout story of this year so far.
Kehlani’s sold out US tour ‘You Should Be Here’ has been proof enough that there’s an appetite for the songstress and her music – in a short while since Kehlani’s 2015 album ‘You Should Be Here’, she’s made major waves.
Take Kehlani as she is because she’s no R&B princess, “I’d rather lace my sneakers up, ’cause high heels ain’t my thing.” In the last four years, Kehlani has put in the work, with two independent solo releases to her name; the eight-track Cloud19 (2014) and ‘You Should Be Here‘. Now with a major-label behind her, Kehlani is taking her contemporary R&B sound and going all out.
So while, 2014 as a year may have been wrapped up with declarations by some that “R&B saved 2014”, it might just have been a bit quick off the mark because 2015 will defiantly be the year that was dominated by Hip-Hop.
Looking to the future, new artists breaking through are the air that breathe life into the music, and Kehlani is leading the way for R&B and her fans love her for it. ‘You Should Be Here’ has put Kehlani front and centre of the R&B radar and the U.S charts, hitting #1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart and #2 on both the Overall R&B Albums and Current R&B Albums chart.
After the success of her U.S sold out tour, Kehlani is ready to make her mark in the U.K.
