Young Fathers Get Spiritual On ‘Lord’
When you’re asking for a sign, sometimes it’s only the ‘Lord’ who knows and answers the call.
Returning with the announcement of their forthcoming 3rd album a new single ‘Lord’ it’s a first chance to get reacquainted with the 2014 Mercury Music winning Young Fathers. Having been on somewhat of a hiatus the Edinburgh trio have returned having finished their album in a seemingly peaceful state of mind and are now adding something spiritual to the mix.
It’s a kaleidoscope of soul chorus and analogue bass synth delivered as a ballad that deals with the question of timing. ‘Lord’ plays with expansive choral harmonies as the lyrics deal with accountability, redemption and the need for great art in hard times.
