Young Spray Makes His Return With ‘Invisible Tears’
With a series of acclaimed mixtapes – the ‘Realer Than Most’ trilogy – and a debut album already under his belt, North London rapper Young Spray is widely regarded to be one of the key originators of what is now known as ‘road rap’ and was a key member of influential and landmark group Northstar.
Today sees the release of ‘Invisible Tears’, a project of work a long time coming with lots of eyes watching. Including previously released singles ‘Amen‘ feat. Skepta and ‘Gangster For Certain‘ feat. Giggs, Mr Realer Than Most delivers with an authentic sound and superb delivery. From the opening, bass-and-synth-heavy bars and trap stylings of ‘Bout It’ – with Young Spray proclaiming he’s “From London town with a London voice and a London sound / I’m a London King with a London crown” – to the Grime-inflected beats of ‘Miss Me With That’ featuring Prez-T, it’s clear that Spray is in his element and he’s proud of his accomplishments so far.
“Strap provider, real survivor. All them MCs wet like saliva”
‘Invisible Tears’ is not afraid to try something new with the electronic, Hip Hop infused ‘#Winner#Sinner’ pushing the boundaries of his sound and cementing his position as on the most recognised and respected figures in UK rap. The album also features collaborations with the likes of Wretch 32 and Chip (‘Proud’), Fekky (‘Shoot Em Up’) and production from Splurgeboys, making it a must listen for all fans of UK sound, old and new alike.
